Karl Perazzo grew up in San Francisco, Ca.
and began playing percussion at an early age. In 1991, his life-long dream of playing with Santana was realized
when he joined the band to play timbales. In addition to Santana, Karl
has also recorded and performed with many musucians from Mariah Carey to
Dizzy Gillespie.
When not on tour or in the studio, Karl teaches percussion. Along with conguero / fellow LP endorser
Raul Rekow, Karl starred in LP's instructional video
From Afro-Cuban to Rock,
which breaks down the complex musical rhythms of Cuban percussion.
Karl recently dropped by LP studios for a visit and recorded three timbale lessons. These lessons build on
each other. In these three clips, Karl demonstrates 1. A basic cascara, 2. Uses of the bells, & 3. How
to create a solo.
