Dan
Moore is percussion head and associate professor of music at the University
of Iowa. A musician with a range of experience in the vast field of
percussion, Moore has performed as an orchestral percussionist, drummer,
keyboardist, hand percussionist, and multi-percussionist.
Known for his expertise in electronic percussion, Moore developed
the MIDI marimba, an instrument on which he can produce acoustic and
electronic sounds simultaneously. Moore also developed a distinctive
playing technique adapted from the guitar, which enables him to play
bass lines, harmonies, melodies, and solos together. Moore's 2005 solo
CD "Now, Here, This" is a collection of original compositions
and treatments of standard and non-standard tunes.
Moore is a national performing artist for the Yamaha Corporation of
America, a signature mallet artist for Innovative Percussion, and an
Educational Board Member for Latin Percussion. Innovative Percussion,
Creative Music, and Cricket City Music publish his compositions and
arrangements.
