You may remember seeing the radical shapes at NAMM. But hear them
once and you’ll never forget them! That’s the scoop on
Factory Metal, the decidedly alternative percussive choice. LP/KMC
Music has begun to distribute the Factory Metal Street FX line of percussion
and proudly highlights these three popular selections for Winter NAMM.
Factory Metal sounds fill the gaps between conventional metal percussion,
cymbals and found objects. LP artist / ace session drummer Dave Mattacks
use a Factory Metal creation in lieu of hi-hats, creating a chain-like
effect, on “Immigrants Like Me” from Tom Juravich’s
ode to workers Altar of the Bottom Line.
LP is proud to introduce Factory Metal Street FX Celtic Bells. Available
in four sizes, 6” through 12”, the bells offer pure tone “tainted” with
an edgy metallic bite. The player can customize timbres by interchanging
metal jingles, creating a complex array of “breaking glass” overtones.
Handcrafted in the USA, Celtic Bellz are a perfect add-on for creative
drummers and percussionists.
Even more atypical are Factory Metal Street FX Cross Crasherz. Available
in diameters 6”, 8”, 10” and 12”, they feature
a dual-layer construction that adds sizzle to sharp exclamations. The
drummer can customize wash and decay by means of adjustable fine-tune
screws. Designed to mount on stackers above cymbals, Cross Crasherz
emit a range of accents guaranteed to stop the action!
And finally, the Street FX Hi-Hat Jingler mounts ingeniously to either
the hi-hat clutch, or to the hi-hat rod via an easy on/off rubber grommet
system (which holds the top hat to the center pull rod). Perfect for
stick accents, the compact 4” diameter will not obscure the hi-hat
top. As a stand-alone, the FX Hi-Hat Jingler is a unique bright, penetrating
tone. For an extra, ear-catching effect, it can be integrated into
complex hi-hat sticking patterns.
They’re edgy and audacious. Factory Metal Street FX, now available
from LP, will expand any musician’s definition of “percussion”.
