LP is proud to introduce a line of congas and bongos to celebrate the unique
style of noted percussionist and recording artist Richie “Gajate” Garcia,
the namesake of LP's popular Gajate Bracket. LP Accents Richie Garcia Congas & Bongos
feature exclusive Richie Garcia-inspired signature art, applied over 3-ply
wood shells of sonically optimal Siam Oak.
Available in Quinto, Conga and Tumba, the drums stand 30” tall and are
fitted with hand-selected natural rawhide skins, which provide the drums with
their expansive palette of harmonics. The drums are fitted with Comfort Curve
II Rims, which are easier on the hands and promote a natural feel. Reinforced
LP Side Plates enhance durability, while LP ProCare Integrated Shell Protectors
prevent adjacent drums from bumping and marring.
Based on the popular LP
Classic Wood Congas and Generation
II Bongos,
the LP Accents Richie Garcia Congas & Bongos feature a memorable appearance,
in part due to the juxtaposition of polished chrome hardware against vivid
graphics. These graphics are a story in themselves. Created especially for
Richie by artist Hector Garcia, they depict, among other things, an octopus.
The creature is significant to one of Richie's nicknames, “El Pulpo”,
which likens his incredible independence of arms and feet on drumset with the
multiple limbs of the octopus. As to the other figures embodied in the graphics,
Richie requested that the artist set them in a tropical, relaxed environment
reminiscent of his Puerto Rican heritage. A suggestion of “family” prevails
and, to this end, the figures have been depicted generically, such that anyone
can identify with them.
Richie's congas and bongos bear his musical and artistic intentions, from
the inside of the shell to the outside, and represent thoroughly the embodiment
of the notion of “signature drums”. They reflect Richie's musicality,
aesthetic sense and style in a unique, warm, and colorful fashion that invites
one to play!
