LP is pleased to celebrate Antonio
Sanchez’ ascendancy in the
hierarchy of musicians with the new LP Antonio Sanchez Percussion Pack
(1204-AS). Antonio Sanchez came to prominence with guitarist/composer
Pat Metheny. The groundswell of accolades and adulation grew into a
phenomenon of the Americas: Rarely in popular jazz has a drummer so
intricately combined percussion and drumset, crafting rhythms that
challenge the technical limits of conventional drumming, causing mortal
drummers to scratch their heads in disbelief.
The new percussion pack contains two of Antonio’s favorite LP
percussion instruments. First is a tambourine, an instrument that chimes
to the churches and heartland evinced in Pat Metheny’s “Americana” compositions.

Cyclops Tambourine in sleek black with
contrasting dimpled brass jingles. Mountable at an angle convenient
to the drumset player, the Cyclops is playable with sticks, mallets
or hands. Second is the LP1204
Piccolo Jam Block, a small but tremendously
significant instrument in Antonio’s arsenal. It enables him to
play innumerable timbres, from the Afro-Cuban clave to the tones of
ancient wood blocks and even snare drum rim clicks. In Antonio’s
hands, it is no mere metronome! With these two, Antonio Sanchez creates
his unbelievable rhythmical and sonic variations.
Included with the LP Antonio Sanchez Percussion Pack is the Gibraltar
AM-1 Mounting Bracket, a universally acclaimed unit with a long knurled
post that slides up and down and locks into position by means of an
eye-hole receiver. It will hold the tambourine or jam block atop or
below the horizontal bar, which attaches to a variety of hardware tubes
or cymbal stands. The percussion pack comes in a reusable box with
flexible plastic handle for convenience.
