LP was proud to have provided the backline for endorser Don Alias' "Heartbeat Tour," a
seven-city tour of the UK featuring Giovanni Hidalgo on congas, Michael
Brecker (tenor sax), Randy Brecker (trumpet), Gil Goldstein (piano),
Mitch Stein (guitar), Carlos Benavent (bass), and others.
Though it took more than five years to become a reality, Don's patience paid off when The British Arts Council's funding finally came through. "I was so proud to have received the grant from the British Government, as well as to have the opportunity to put a band together with these masters," says Don. Not surprisingly, the majority of the songs were written and composed by the band members themselves, and featured congas,
timbales,
bongos,
bata
drums, and a variety of hand-held percussion instruments.
