Gary HusbandBorn into a musical family in Yorkshire, England in 1960, Gary Husband initially studied classical piano. By age 10, he began playing drums and, before he was 16, secured a place in the Syd Lawrence Orchestra as their youngest everdrummer.

He broadened his skills to include composing jingles, incidental and theme music for BBC and YTV, and performances with a vast array of musicians including Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia, Lulu, Gil Evans Orchestra, Jim Mullen/Dick Morrissey Band, Jeff Clyne's Turning Point, Steve Topping, 20th Century Blues [on guitar], Ronnie Scott Group [on piano], Gary Boyle Bandand Ian Carr's Nucleus.

Gary began to establish a reputation for his progressiveness with his ground-breaking associations with Allan Holdsworth - a partnership which continues to evolve today.In the 80s and 90s, Gary toured and recorded with Billy Cobham (on piano/keyboards in many of his groups, plus performing double-drum duets), Gary Moore, Randy Brecker, Geoff Keezer, Christian McBride, Eddie Van Halen, Jack Bruce Band, R.M.S. with Ray Russell and Mo Foster, Alan Skidmore, Jim Mullen, Dennis Chambers, Andy Summers, Gongzilla, Anthony Hindson, L Shankarand Zakir Hussain, as well as a five-year association with pop giants Level 42 earned him great critical and public acclaim in the international arena.

Among one of his most noteworthy solo projects was the Gary Husband "New" Trio, with whom he has recorded two albums. The latest features Gary on piano/keyboards, drums, guitar and charango and he also performed two solo concerts as part of the South Bank Centre's Rhythm Sticks Festival (1995 and
2000), playing drums, piano/keyboards and guitar.

In the summer of 2002,Gary was awarded a highly coveted place on the Arts Council of England's Contemporary Music Network touring scheme to lead a hand-picked band of world-class jazz musicians on a tour across the country in March 2003. His project, entitled Force Majeure, features Randy Brecker, Matt Garrison, Jim Beard, Arto Tuncboyaciyan, Jerry Goodman and Elliot Mason, and includes a commission to write brand new works as well as innovative interpretations of the music of Burt Bacharach, John McLaughlin and Bjork.
