Patato and Candido Perform in the LP Studio

Carlos "Patato" Valdez and Candido Camero (two of LP's elder statesmen/ambassadors) stopped by to visit the LP headquarters. Their activities included a trip to the LP photo studio and in depth interview sessions with LP Founder Martin Cohen. These very special endorsers also took the time to sign autographs for their many fans at LP.

"Patato" has been a major influence in the world of percussion for over 50 years. His contributions as a conguero led to the design of the LP Patato Model Conga. These best selling drums, first developed in 1978, have been used through out the world by all types of musicians. Also, to the credit of this great musician is his dancing talent. He's the man that gave Brigitte Bardot a mambo lesson in the movie, And God Created Women.

Candido's career also spans five decades and he is considered by many to be one of the greatest Cuban percussionists to come to America. He has played with many great musicians including: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Billy Taylor, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Tony Bennett and Tito Puente. In his book, The Good Life, Tony Bennett mentions that Candido added to the success of his music.
