Jeffrey Lopez has been playing professionally for over 30 years and is considered to be one of the most talented timbaleros in the New York City area. Playing with today’s hottest Latin bands including Pequeno Johnny Y El Cartel de NY, Swing Sabroso, Chris Alfinez and many more.
Jeffrey’s career began in New Jersey where he participated in his school’s Latin band. Growing up, Jeffrey was surrounded by music as his dad was a bass player and his uncle was a piano player. By the age of 13, Jeffrey was playing professionally in his father's band called "Swing Combo".
He has been fortunate enough to have played with Ray Barretto, Celia Cruz, Willie Colon, Luis Perico Ortiz, Larry Harlow, Ray Sepulveda, Charlie Cruz, Huey Dunbar, La India, Rey Ruiz, and many more great Latin legends. He also feels that he has been blessed for being a part of the music industry, traveling to places such as Europe, South America, Japan, and Africa.
Jeffrey has also recorded with many top producers such as Grammy award winner Sergio George, Isidro Infante, Ricky Gonzalez, Efrain Davila-Junito, Ray Barretto, Luis Perico Ortiz and many more. He has also appeared on the soap opera "Guiding Light" and in the motion picture "Confessions of a Shopaholic." His talent also has led him to receive multiple awards such as "The Recognition Award" for timbaleros of the millennium and a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Armed Forces in Korea for performing for the United States Military.
Jeffrey currently performs with bands such as Swing Sabroso, New York Cartels and others. He is proud to say that he still owns his very first pair of LP timbales that he purchased in 1983 and he still uses them when he rehearses.
