A native of Los Angeles, Zoro is one of the funkiest and in the pocket drummers on the contemporary music scene today. He has toured and recordedwith Lenny Kravitz, Bobby Brown, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The New Edition, Jody Watley, Sean Lennon, Philip Bailey of Earth Wind & Fire, Vanessa Paradis, Lisa Marie Presley and many others.
A recipient of numerous awards, Zoro has been honored by being voted #1 R&B Drummer in the Modern Drummer Magazine reader's poll for several years consecutively, and has received Best Funk Drummer honors in Drum! Magazine, as well as the U.K's leading drum publication, Rhythm Magazine.
An alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Zoro teaching privately and he has conducted clinics and master classes around the globe. As a result, he has been consistently voted Best Clinician in the Modern Drummer Magazine reader's poll, is a favorite on the international drum camp and festival circuit, and was recently honored with the highly prestigious Outstanding Supporter Award from the Percussive Arts Society.
As a writer, his work has been published by numerous international publications including Modern Drummer. He also served as Editor in Chief at Stick It Magazine for three years. Zoro's best selling and critically acclaimed Warner Bros. Publications book, video, and DVD series, The Commandments of R&B Drumming: A Comprehensive Guide To Soul, Funk & Hip Hop were all awarded with the prestigious #1 Best Educational Products title in the Modern Drummer Magazine reader's poll. In a recent international drum magazine poll conducted by a host of world renowned players and educators, the DVD placed in the top five on The 100 Most Important Drum DVD's of All Time. Both the book and DVD are now standard curriculum in most music colleges and drum schools worldwide and have clearly impacted the international drum community on a global scale.
