Amaury Acosta

New York City based Cuban-American drummer, Amaury Acosta incorporates an authentic blend of Jazz, Hip Hop, and Afro-Cuban rhythms to his music. At the age of 11, he began studying privately with master drummer Alex Garcia.  At age 14, Amaury was awarded a scholarship to Harbor Conservatory of Music in New York City where he studied with noted musicians and educators David Oquendo, Johnny Almendra and Ramon Rodriguez. Amaury attended La Guardia High School for Performing Arts and graduated from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School in 2006. In 2008, he attended The New School For Jazz & Contemporary Music in New York City.

Amaury co-founded the band (U)nity along with Cuban pianist Axel Tosca Laugart. The group is a collective of five young international musicians that fuse Afro-Cuban grooves with modern Jazz and R&B. The group has been extremely well received in the artistic community, playing at such engagements as the Winter Jazz Fest in Greenwich Village, and the New Jersey Jazz Summit.
