Made with banded shells of exotic Romanian Tilia wood for a defined and full-bodied sound, Richie’s new congas and bongos feature natural rawhide heads, Top Tuning Comfort Curve® II Rims and chrome hardware over a Mavi-colored satin finish.
The are top tuning and created with a layer of fiberglass to strengthen the inside upper portion of the shell. Sizes include an 11″ Quinto (LP522T-2RGM – MSRP: $719.00), 11-3/4″ Conga (LP559T-2RGM – MSRP: $739.00) and 12-1/2″ Tumbadora (LP552T-2RGM – MSRP: $769.00). LP Richie Gajate-Garcia Bongos (LP201AX-2RGM – MSRP: $459.00) are fitted with 7-1/4″ and 8-5/8″ heads.
“I am very excited with my new series of drums! Made of light weight Romanian Tilia wood, which is also known for its resonance, makes the conga lighter than most congas in the market,” said Richie Gajate-Garcia. “We colored the drums to match the Mavi – a popular drink in my native Puerto Rico, they will look absolutely beautiful in any setting.”
Among Richie Gajate-Garcia’s playing credits are Phil Collins, Christopher Cross, Diana Ross, Sting and countless movie soundtracks. As a globally recognized educator and clinician, Richie has conducted more than 500 percussion clinics and is featured in several LP instructional DVDs.
