Latin Percussion has just introduced a new edition of its Aspire Congas and Bongos made from exotic Jamjuree wood. Sometimes called Siam Walnut, Jamjuree is 15% lighter in weight than Siam Oak, yet still delivers stunning tone and resonance. Jamjuree is also one of the most uniquely beautiful woods LP has ever used. Its wood grain ranges from a radiant gold to a deep, rich walnut-colored brown, resulting in dramatic visual contrast. To further enrich the wood’s natural beauty, the drums are coated with a satin-like, matte lacquer finish.
The congas are 28″ tall and come in sets of two with head combinations of 10″ and 11″. The drums are fitted with natural rawhide heads and chrome 5/16″ diameter tuning lugs. To help minimize hand trauma, the congas are equipped with EZ Curve Rims. The rims and side plates are in an attractive black powder coated finish that enhances the drums unique finish. Conga sets come with an LP Aspire Slide Mount Double Conga Stand, which is fully height adjustable. To complete the ensemble, we’ve also added matching bongos with 6-3/4” and 8” natural rawhide heads and steel bottom rims.
The new LP Aspire Jamjuree Wood Conga Set (LPA646-SW) carries an MSRP of $549. The list price for the matching bongos (LPA601-SW) is $149. Both will be available in October 2012.
Latin Percussion announced the release of its new Americana Series of Cajons. The Americana Series makes its debut featuring three distinct models, a String Style cajon, a Snare Style model and a traditional Peruvian model. Each cajon is carefully made by hand using a uniquely engineered design and shape that optimizes the instrument’s acoustic performance and delivers a rich, satisfying tonal range. In addition, all of the materials used in the manufacturing of the Americana Series meet Phase II CARB Compliance and Lacey Act Standards.
“With the Americana Series, LP has a taken a giant leap forward in our Cajon offering,” said Victor Filonovich, Director of Product Management. “Months of research went into choosing the optimal selection of materials to maximize our advanced design and ultimately produce the best sounding cajons ever made.

To further ensure the quality of every Americana Series cajon, each instrument receives a final ten-point inspection by a quality control specialist before it is boxed to ship. The specialist closely examines each cajon and upon approval, hand signs an inspection certificate that is placed in the carton with the drum.

The String Style Cajon features angled corners for added player comfort and measures 11 3/4″ x 11 7/8″ x 19″. MSRP for the String Style Cajon is $459.

Like the String Style model, the Snare Style Cajon has angled corners for player comfort and measures 11 3/4″ x 11 7/8″ x 19″. The American Series Snare Style Cajon has an MSRP of $429.
