KMC Music Percussion Summit

Two days of face-to-face discussions with each of KMC’s percussion brands.

KMC Music® invited 13 of its top drum and percussion retailers from across the country to participate in a hands-on presentation with representatives from Gretsch Drums, Gibraltar Hardware, Latin Percussion, Toca Percussion, KAT Percussion and Sabian. Across two days on March 20th and 21st at the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas, the group had opportunities to speak directly with KMC brand managers to provide feedback on everything from product development to pricing. As a small thanks to everyone that attended, KMC invited surprise guest – and Gretsch & Latin Percussion artist – Cindy Blackman-Santana to perform and meet with the attendees.

“It was a true learning experience to have the many years of experience of guys like Gary Forkum, Steve Maxwell and others in one room at the same time,” said James Tsaptsinos, VP of Sales for KMC Music. “This is the first time we have been able to round up the top percussion dealers in the country and interact with all of the KMC percussion brands. We gained invaluable information about product development, marketing and tools needed to further the success of Gretsch, Gibraltar, LP, Toca, KAT and Sabian.”

“The dialogue at this event was candid, insightful and immediate. Our top dealers, particularly our Round Badge dealers, are who they are because they are passionate about the Gretsch brand and emotionally invested in it,” said John Palmer, Director of Product for Gretsch Drums. “The discussion with these top-tier dealers was illuminating and helps keep our market perspectives in balance.”

Napa Valley Opera House
Latin Percussion was recently named the official percussion sponsor of the renowned Napa Valley Opera House. Located in the heart of one of the nations’ top tourist destinations, the Napa Valley Opera House is considered the “crown jewel” of the region. All percussionists performing in the venue will now be using LP gear exclusively.

“We are thrilled to be part of the LP family,” said Peter Williams, Executive Director of Napa Valley Opera House. “We look forward to many shows with Latin Percussion’s excellent gear on stage.”

The Napa Valley Opera House is nestled among world-class restaurants and wine tasting rooms. Originally constructed in 1879, the Napa Valley Opera House is a National Historic Landmark and its Margrit Biever Mondavi Theatre underwent an extensive and lavish renovation in 2002.

“It’s an honor for LP to be partners with such a prestigious and impressive venue,” said Arturo Riera, Special Events Coordinator – West Coast, Latin Percussion, who coordinated placement of LP products at the Napa Valley Opera House. “Our instruments have found a happy home here and will be used by some of the world’s finest musicians while they perform for some of the world’s most discerning audiences.”

Included in the donation are a wide assortment of LP congas, bongos, timbales, cowbells and many other hand percussion instruments.
