Latin Percussion is proud to introduce LP Durian Classic drums, a new series of premium congas and bongos fashioned from exotic durian fruitwood, known to Southeast Asia. With a rich, projecting sound similar to that of some mahogany blends. LP Durian congas are 25% lighter than LP Classic Series Congas made from Siam Oak.
Durian wood bongos include contoured shells featuring Comfort Curve rims for ease of playing in any setting. Durian drums feature a dark, high-gloss finish and black mirror-chrome hardware, and are fitted with extended collar rims and pre-fitted slide mounts for quick, convenient setup.
LP Durian Classic Series drums are available in 11″ Quinto (MSRP: $699), 11-3/4″ Conga (MSRP: $679) and 12 -1/2″ Tumbadora (MSRP: $729). LP Durian Classic Series bongos (MSRP: $425) are fitted with 7-1/4″ and 8-5/8″ heads.
“The look of these Durian wood drums is absolutely striking. This exotic wood offers a warm, open sound that can stand on its own or integrate seamlessly with a large percussion setup,” said Victor Filonovich, Director of Product for Latin Percussion.
Latin Percussion has just introduced a new edition of its Aspire Congas and Bongos made from exotic Jamjuree wood. Sometimes called Siam Walnut, Jamjuree is 15% lighter in weight than Siam Oak, yet still delivers stunning tone and resonance. Jamjuree is also one of the most uniquely beautiful woods LP has ever used. Its wood grain ranges from a radiant gold to a deep, rich walnut-colored brown, resulting in dramatic visual contrast. To further enrich the wood’s natural beauty, the drums are coated with a satin-like, matte lacquer finish.
The new LP Aspire Jamjuree Wood Conga Set (LPA646-SW) carries an MSRP of $549. The list price for the matching bongos (LPA601-SW) is $149. Both will be available in October 2012.
