JOSE LUNA

The Suffers

Jose “Chapy” Luna is a percussionist born and raised in Houston, Texas. He grew up  surrounded by a family of musicians and began putting on shows in his grandmother’s garage  alongside his cousins, using buckets and broomsticks. In the 19 years of his career, he has played countless styles of music including soul, ska, jazz,  and latin. He currently forms part of the 8 piece band, The Suffers, with whom he has performed in over 15 countries and has made a number of TV appearances including Late Night with David  Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and NPR’s Tiny Desk.

In addition to professional accomplishments and talents, Chapy is well known throughout the  Houston community for his warmth, kindness and humility. When he is not on the road he  spends his time playing with local Houston legends and playing instruments with his two year  old daughter.
